SV you would be better to jump to the 70 series that replaced these 30 series. The thirty series was a good tractor but they had an engine design issue. The water jacket went to low and close to the cylinder wall. So they would had a cavitation issue that would worm hole the block towards the bottom of the cylinder wall. A lot of 1000-1500 hour tractors had to have new blocks installed around here. The real kick in the pants it did not show up for 4-5 years so the tractors where out of warranty. Ford also does not do service allowances on these type of factory defect either. JD often has servi9ce allowances on things that show up way out of warranty by time. So you might get 30-60% of the repair paid for by JD years after the sale.
The Genesis series motors corrected this issue. Talk to some Ford sales guys from that time period, 1993, and they will tell you they had to walk a fine line on the "new" Genesis series motors because if they touted that the block trouble was "fixed" there would have been a bunch of Late model owners screaming for help on their repair bills.
