Hmm, since mine are kept in the coop I would pull some long grass and weeds and throw it in to them every day to simulate being free range. I started loosing them and concluded they were choking on the long stems. When a chicken eats the grass outside they are pecking off little bits at a time as it is anchored by the roots whereas mine would get the whole stem caught in their throat.
