Hello. I am brand new to tractors and tractoring all together. I bought my first tractor, a harry ferguson to20. I believe from the serial number it's a 48 even though the seller it was a 53. Anyways, it starts right up and drives great. I've ordered several manuals for it and already found some parts I need. My main issue right now is that it is stuck in first gear. I read several forums and watched some videos on this issue. I figured it was gonna be some selectors bound up. I removed the gear box cover and the selectors were perfectly aligned. The oil is clean. No rust or anything weird in there. I can move each selector by hand except the reverse one. No sure where to look next or what to try. I'm trying everything to not split the tractor if possible. I'm not really sure what to look for. I've been told maybe try to spray cleaner and lubes all over everything and maybe that selector is just stuck??? I dont know. The shifter handle is not stuck, it can move into any gear except reverse bit like I said. Doesn't matter what gear the stick is in, the tyranny is always in first. I drove it about a mile like this. Any advise would be awesome and appreciated.
