: : How tall are the various compacts (i.e. their exhaust pipes)?

: : I'm looking at compacts, and I've learned a lot about what to look for from this discussion group and others. One issue I haven't seen discussed is which ones are too tall to fit through a 7-foot garage door. The actual clearance on my door is 82 inches.

: : I'm leaning toward used Japanese imports like Yanmar 1810 or thereabouts; but since I haven't bought yet, height info for the others would be much appreciated.

: : Thanks in advance.

: I agree with Fritz that the ROPS will be your biggest problem. If the exhaust stack is too high, you can cut it off or if you need the height, then make a removable extension for it. A folding ROPS is good if you need to work in close overhead quarters.

Okay boys, be easy on us beginners! Whats a ROPS??

What’s even more amazing is that all the principals of hydraulic theory can be wrapped up in such a small package. This same package applies to any hydraulic system from the largest bulldozer to the oldest and smallest tractor. This short series will take a look at the basic layout of a simple hydraul ...
