I bought a 300 at auction for $1180 with tax and all, it had TA, fast hitch and IPTO but the engine was stuck and I knew it had some kind of internal problem which was why the previous owner had parked it. I had stopped at the house and asked about it a few years before the auction, as the tractor sat by the road, but he said he had $2200 in new transmission gears and other parts in it and I knew I didn't want to buy it for that much. It had junk tires too. I had to replace one piston and sleeve due to water down the muffler, and i had to replace some parts in the IPTO driveline that required a double split. I also put in a used differential since the old one was chipped in places. I also had to buy a used gas tank, both halves of the carburetor shell, and do a few other things. Then I messed up the transmission pilot bearing and it broke up about 20 hours after I put it all back together, so I had to do another double split. By buying used parts except for the piston and sleeve and head gasket I was able to get everything I needed to get it going again and kept the cost out of pocket for the tractor and parts around $2,000 or $2500 , and it has been a very helpful tractor for me for 5 years now. I was very lucky to have the advice of people on this forum, and to be able to get many of the parts from a very kind forum member, or it would have cost a lot more. I'd say you did fine to buy your 350 at $2500 with good tires and everything working, as long as it keeps working for you for a while. With the wide front you could always sell that and put a narrow on to recoup some of your money, and I like the narrow front a lot better for haying and working in the woods. Best of luck with the 350. Zach

Today's Featured Article - New Hitches For Your Old Tractor - by Chris Pratt. For this article, we are going to make the irrational and unlikely assumption that you purchased an older tractor that is in tip top shape and needs no immediate repairs other than an oil change and a good bath. To the newcomer planning to restore the machine, this means you have everything you need for the moment (something to sit in the shop and just look at for awhile while you read the books). To the newcomer that wants to get out and use the machine for field work, you may have already hit a major roadblock. That is the dreaded "proprietary hitch". With the exception of the
