Interesting body work story:
I was in my mid 20's, working at my dad's garage.
One of my old school buddies dad was one of my regular customers. His normal MO was to try to do his own repairs, call me several times, ignore everything I suggested he do, then show up needing help undoing something simple he had tried to repair and totally destroyed.
This man had no mechanical ability at all! The simplest repair always turned into an expensive disaster!
Well, something happened to the drivers side door of his car. He claimed someone hit and run him in a parking lot. The door was caved in, but could be mostly popped back out, but still had some damage that would need some body work.
He proudly announced that he was going to fix it at home! Showed me the "How to" book he had just bought.
I'm thinking... Yeah, this is going to get... Interesting!
A few weeks went by, I didn't think about it again until he showed up one day.
"Fixed my door" he proclaimed.
I looked at it, an by gosh, it was fixed! In fact it was near perfect!
He did the bondo and primer, took it to one of the cheap paint places and got the door painted.
I was speechless! Would have never thought he could pull it off. (That is if he really did, I still wonder if he just changed the door! LOL)
But, guess we all have to be good at something, guess his gift was body work!
