I shot some green

Green paint that is. Gotta love that Oliver green. It takes something like 28 bolts to put the fenders and all the fender braces on,so I'll get those back on,pull the wheels off, then paint the outside of the fenders and put another coat on to cover the bolts.

The grill is still giving me fits. I've taken the primer off twice now. I put some new Bondo on it where I just can't get the last of the dimples bumped out. I just about need a small cannon ball to stick in there to get the right curve to it. I need to get the grill painted Clover White then and give it time to dry so I can mask it to paint the hood green.

I'm getting there. I just might have it ready in time for a show on the 28th yet.

Did you get to see the northern lights last night, they're supposed to be green too. Seriously, paint looks good too.

The way it has been raining or overcast at night it would not matter because you would not be able to see it if it were there and that you wanted to see it.

Hey Randy slow down a bit. Haste makes waste or well you know what they say. Is lookin good tho. Hang in there. RB

Looks like you are making some progress!

Sometimes you just have to walk away and let things be for a while. A new day can make a big difference!

Interesting body work story:

I was in my mid 20's, working at my dad's garage.

One of my old school buddies dad was one of my regular customers. His normal MO was to try to do his own repairs, call me several times, ignore everything I suggested he do, then show up needing help undoing something simple he had tried to repair and totally destroyed.

This man had no mechanical ability at all! The simplest repair always turned into an expensive disaster!

Well, something happened to the drivers side door of his car. He claimed someone hit and run him in a parking lot. The door was caved in, but could be mostly popped back out, but still had some damage that would need some body work.

He proudly announced that he was going to fix it at home! Showed me the "How to" book he had just bought.

I'm thinking... Yeah, this is going to get... Interesting!

A few weeks went by, I didn't think about it again until he showed up one day.

"Fixed my door" he proclaimed.

I looked at it, an by gosh, it was fixed! In fact it was near perfect!

He did the bondo and primer, took it to one of the cheap paint places and got the door painted.

I was speechless! Would have never thought he could pull it off. (That is if he really did, I still wonder if he just changed the door! LOL)

But, guess we all have to be good at something, guess his gift was body work!

I know mine sure isn't!

I am no body man but check outfit like Eastwood they have excellent products for this. Like high build primer glazin putty etc. I can tell you mm yellow and allis orange seem to be two of the hardest colors to paint!!

I think that's the weekend of the 18th,19th and 20th isn't it? Our anniversary is the 18th. We're heading to Tennessee that day and are staying over for the eclipse on the 21st. We'll have it at Blanchard the next weekend. I just might tie in to the wife's Super 55 if she wants to do some sanding and sandblasting on it,and see if I can have that done by then.

The worst I ever tried to spray was the silver on the White tractors. You can spray two passes with it and it just looks wet. Come across it with a third pass and it turns silver, but it's so thick it runs.

I asked a bodyman how he gets rid of the little dings/dimples.Here is what he told me:Sand the paint off the area, weld a stud in the middle of the dent, using a puller on the stud- a couple of tugs and the dent is gone.Grind off the stud, sand, prime and paint.

I've seen that done. I've got a kit with three different blocks and three different hammers for bumping them out. These were small and just in a bad spot. I got the new Bondo sanded and painted the Clover White on it a few hours ago. Not perfect, but it'll have to do. Get it in a line at a show and maybe nobody will look that close.
