Ok, I have this engine out of an MF 540 combine 2100 hrs. been sitting last 15 year in heated shop. decided to try starting it. I mounted a jug of fuel and its sitting 2 ft. above engine. I hand prime the injector pump seems to pump up. But I get no fuel at the injectors.
I've now had injection pump off and taken apart, it was very clean, flushed with carb cleaner upon assembly, bought cheap chinese pump kit. reassembled and still have the same issue. fuel metering valve in pump was originally stuck. I polished it and it works fine. installed new gaskets and have same issue. I pulled cover off to check metering rod and its free. fuel will gravity feed through pump..
Today I pulled 3 injectors to see if it would spin faster. I also took apart fuel inlet spring plunger assembly, piston is free reassembled correctly, no fuel at injectors with throttle wide open.
What do I check next? Would the lift pump cause this issue? It pumps by hand. :?:
