: : I have heard at a ford 302"v8 fitts in a N8\N9 : : send me a mail if you know about that. : The flathead V-8 bolted right up to the housing but then you had to mount a radiator with two feeds and two returns. This was a common conversion and actually performed at the dealer in some instances. But finding someone to set up a flathead eight for you now-a-days is sometimes difficult and always expensive, not to mention trying to find a block that isn't cracked from the cyl wall into the valve seat. The stock flathead V-8 was 40HP and later up'd to 60HP, either would make alot of tractor without getting too wild like a 302... The 221 cu in or the 239 cu in flat head v-8 was the version used in the Ford tractor conversions. The 221 cu in flat head used was 85 HP. The 239 cu in flat head was 90 to 110 HP depending on the year. This was the bare engine HP with no accessories. The 60 HP flathead was a smaller engine. It was used in lots of race cars but I have never heard of it in the tractor. Harold H
