Years ago the military had a run with 3 older aircraft, training the reserve I believe they would fly over once a week or so, pretty low, one big cargo and two smaller maneuverable planes.
Was fall and the time changed, was out plowing at dusk and these 3 planes show on the horizon, saw their lights more than the planes it was late enough. All of a sudden their course changed, and they ended up flying right over the top of me.
Was a little eerie being the target of a military operation!
Last week was driving up the hill out of the river bottom of the town here, just as I coasted to a stop at the top of the hill my pickup engine sounded horrid. Something was wrong, all choppy! Shut the radio off and tried to get my bearing - here a big millitary 2 propeller chopper was flying over town, heading to a fly by of the airport near where I was. Man what a racket, and unnerved me, thought the pickup was dying.
Several years ago I was over at my sisters 5 acres planting corn with the little 1720 tractor and a 4 row planter. Again, the engine just started sounding aweful, a bad thumping could feel it in my chest, really bad deal. Oh jeez, so far from home, now what? Shut the tractor off, and still felt and heard the thumping. There, on the other side of a row of trees, went the unit train..........
