: Neighbor has a 4 banger that seems to only run on one cylinder part of the time. It has new plugs, wires & dist. The front (#1) plug looks good but the remaining three are wet. Not much power. : Odd thing is that if you disconnect #2, #3 or #4 plug wires there is no change but when you reconnect it and have the wire just starting on the plug the RPMs increase noticably. With all three of the wires just haning on the power is improved. : This is no way to run a tractor. Any Suggestions I can pass to my neighbor. I suspect your neighbors tractor may have new "resistant spark plugs", resistant (carbon core) spark plug wires, etc. They run at higher voltage which the widening of the spark plug from home raises. Make sure the spark plugs don't have a first R in their number, and make sure the plug wires have a wire core. The system should have a resistor in the wire feeding the coil. With a change of wire it's hard to say how timing could be effected, but it wouldn't likely run.
