Hi sounds like you had fun with those projects,
That combine motor must of been a 2700 series
from the U.K I would think. unless it was a
newer series.
From what i have been told with those
transmissions they like good bearings and
shimming correctly. The other key to it is if
it has done heavy field work. they wear the
splines off in the coupling between the gear
box and rear axle. Guys say to go right through
it and check everything while your there. The
reason being is your that far in. if that shaft
quits 3 weeks later your back again and
probably scrapping the tractor. in 2002 I was
told that shaft kit was something like $17.000
for a DX 120. Thats why I was pulling a used
one out, that infact was junk on removal. it
had twisted on the splines making everybody
think it was good before we tore it apart. That
shafts what happened to the 7.10 with my guy it
lost drive in the field and jumping out of gear
before that, but i know of a machine shop that did an update/ repair to it that saved a load of money. Not sure if they still do them though
