They were very popular in western Texas. Every farm house had a propane tank out back for the kitchen, water heater, furnace, etc. so propane was always close by. You just bought a special hose and filled your tractor from your tank. Many farmers had a tank mounted on wheels and they towed it to the job site. You still see LPG tractors of just about every brand (Ford and JD were especially popular) all over that area.
