What happens if the government shuts down and we figure out that the world won't end because of it? We should petition our government for a few constitutional amendments 1- they will pass a budget every year, any time we don't have a budget neither Congress or the Senate doesn't get paid and the government looses it's taxing authority (can't collect taxes for that period, if we are without a budget for more than 4 weeks congress and the senate is dissolved and we'll have a new election in 6 weeks with incumbents ineligible to run for their old seats. 2- Tie size of the federal budget to our economy, meaning if our GDP goes up they can increase the government's budget BUT if GDP goes down so does the government budget or to put it another way if you screw up and crash the economy and the GDP drops 20% so does their budget.
