How often do you change water filters on refrigerator? I purchased a new ref about 2 years ago. Forgot it had a water filter for ice maker. Book says change every 6 months. Went to store to buy one and got a sticker shock $45. Found them on amazon for $28. If I bought 2 it was free shipping. Bought 2. Some places even sell a by-pass gismo to get rid of filter.
My old ref didn't have a water filter. Ice maker never caused me a problem in over 20 years. Really don't see a need for filter. Going to cut old filter apart and see what's inside. Then I may see a need for one.
Anyone see a need for a filter when on well water in the country? I definately see the need for one if I was on city water that is treated with chemicals. Sister lives in Florida. She has one on her refrig. I can't stand the smell or taste of her city water. After it goes through her ref filter, water isn't too bad. George
