I would like to see a pic of the carburetor or you can say it has a float bowl .. Id be checking in there for a stuck float needle.
I have saved a lot of problems, just by switching octane of gas used. 86 octane will definitely cause problems.
Not knowing what may be in there ,, and for how long I would remove tank and dump it. fill with 89 or higher. 86 will spoil faster if kept in plastic containers .. the more the alcohol content the more moisture it will absorb.
If that tank is where I think it is , you may be lucky enough for it to be a white opaque plastic tank you should be able to see down inside it . look for rusty bubbles laying on the bottom .
shake the tractor and see if they move .that is a water problem.. so do above .
I am pretty sure all those type tractors ( I know all the ones with Briggs, or Kohler engines are drilled for most engine mounting
Depending on how you feel about putting another 100.00 into it lots of these riders can be bought cheap enough to get a good engine , and have parts to boot.
I think that one has the shift on the go system. not a bad machine if used as intended . Ya did good !
