Just bought this for $25.00. aired up 4 flat tires, fresh gas and put in a battery - but will only run if I pour gas in the carb. Pulled the gas line and get good flow. Any suggestions? Techumseh engine. What are the wires on the front of the carb??? Never seen that. Didn't come with manual and I just got home with it.

whoops - here's the pics

If the wires are on the carb, and they are hooked to a round like object its the electric fuel shut off.
Its so that when people shut the engine off it won't continue to draw raw gas into the cylinders.

I see a lot of people will shut off a mower with the engine at full throttle. I ask them if they shut their car off at full throttle or do they take their foot off the gas pedal?

Not very familiar on that Techumseh, Not a popular engine here in these parts.

I would like to see a pic of the carburetor or you can say it has a float bowl .. Id be checking in there for a stuck float needle.

I have saved a lot of problems, just by switching octane of gas used.
86 octane will definitely cause problems.

Not knowing what may be in there ,, and for how long I would remove tank and dump it. fill with 89 or higher. 86 will spoil faster if kept in plastic containers .. the more the alcohol content the more moisture it will absorb.

If that tank is where I think it is , you may be lucky enough for it to be a white opaque plastic tank you should be able to see down inside it . look for rusty bubbles laying on the bottom .

shake the tractor and see if they move .that is a water problem.. so do above .

I am pretty sure all those type tractors ( I know all the ones with Briggs, or Kohler engines are drilled for most engine mounting

Depending on how you feel about putting another 100.00 into it lots of these riders can be bought cheap enough to get a good engine , and have parts to boot.

I think that one has the shift on the go system.
not a bad machine if used as intended . Ya did good !

If that's screwed into the carburetor than its like was said a fuel shut off. Actually shuts the fuel off to the main jet. Had a Toro set up that way if you left it sitting for a couple of months it would stick closed and the solenoid would not pull it open. Take it out and clean it might be all that's wrong Not bad for $25

took the fuel shut off out, plunger moves freely. I tird by-passing it and got a single click and now nothing at all. Is there a fuse somehwere I may have blown?
