I am always glad to see some younger person learning a skilled trade. It would appear that she is learning the "Correct" way to shoe a horse. She should be able to establish a good business in the area she is in. I think, long term, being a female will help her grow her business. More women owning horses than men.
Two things to pass along to her:
1) Tell her to be real careful around other people's horses. They may not be as well trained as her horses are. Zero dogs around any horses she is working with. One bark at the wrong time and she is injured.
2) Tell her CASH payment on any and all farrier work!!!! I know several people that do this for a living. It seems that the pleasure horse circuit is loaded with DIME store millionaires.
One fellow that worked all day at a smaller stable got a bad check he never got covered. He took it to court but secretary was just an employee so not criminally liable. He did get a judgment but he is at the back of the line behind a bunch of other people in front of him.
STILL darn good young person!!! Wish her the best!!!
