According to an ad the Meyer was being sold in the fifties. The farmer that I worked for in the sixties had a Cunningham which tended to plug a lot. They became obsolete with the advent of the mower conditioner, but appear to be enjoying a revival now as a means of reducing drying time by substituting a "recon" pass for the first tedder pass. I know of two of these, the "Recon" and the "masticator". A friend has a Recon and swears by it. Old conditioners are being refurbed and used for this now.
