Had a front loader last time .The wife had a notebook and notes and did all this research . I was busy working and she handled it .Kenmore . After 12 years it failed due to the bearing holding the drum. Then I started thinking a top loader does not hang off the bearing but rests down on it. I was in K=Mart and found out the appliance department was being phased out for pet supplies section. Got a 625 dollar machine for 400 [no box] .When I loaded into the truck I could see underneath how flimsy it was and how small the motor was . Actually that was the second one the first I returned because when my wife did the first load it did not wet the top of the clothes and she went online and read bad reviews .First the manager said he would send a repair guy. But I didn't want that and got full refund which was not any argument because they really din't care about the appliance department anymore.Years ago I used to walk in an appliance store with my wife and when the saleman came over . I'd just say cheapest one you sell. In present day that can be very poor of a choice. But I vote for top loader due to bearing stress. Forgot what kind we got but went back for a dryer before they sold out and again got a 600 dollar machine for 400. They can sell alot more pet supplies than appliances. Althougfh I see there are some in the box still at that K-Mart pushed aside the new pet isle. The sheetmetal o0n the dryer is so thin I dented it twice bring it home in my truck. Wife just said new one is a Kenmore and works good. I'm not allowed to do laundry due to turning stuff pink.
