Dave you have been in the land of socialism too long it is affecting your capitalism gene. You don't like that anyone other than you can sell what THEY own for whatever they want to. That could be a $1 or $1 million. IT IS their property.

You would be hopping mad if someone told you what they thought was the right price for one of those cute little dogs you raise and sell. Think about it this way. "I come to you and tell you that I saw an ad in the paper for dog at the local shelter for $20. So I think you should sell your dogs for $20 as well and you are a big crook for wanting anything more." Bet you would be mad and writing on here about how "stupid" buyers are.

Have a friend that is a Union welder. He does not see anything wrong with the fact that if he is welding on a public building he gets prevailing wage. In his case this is $32 per hour. If he does the same exact thing on a private job he makes $22 an hour. He thinks this is just fine. Nothing wrong with charging the tax payers more money for the same work.

He thinks it is terrible if I sell something for a good profit. He does not say anything about when I lose money on something but he raises cane about it when I make good money on something.

Here is an example: At a public auction I bought a Kewaunee 600 chain elevator. I only gave $525 for it. That is about a third of what it should have brought. I pulled it home and did nothing to it other than waited to a few weeks ago to sell it. It is more in season than the early spring when I bought it. I advertised it for $1750 planning to take $1500 if offered. The welder friend saw the ad and called me a crook for asking that much for it. (He was with me at the first sale)

A guy came Sat. and looked it all over we ran it with a tractor. HE was over joyed to find a good one just like he wanted. He wrote me out a check for the $1750 did not offer one dollar less. So I made a good profit for knowing what the true value of something was. I guess in your eyes that is wrong. You probably think I should have sold it to him for the $525 I bought it for and just keep on trading things at a break even for the good of the "People"?

How about when I sell something an loose money on it??? I just sold a JD 4430 that the guy used it one day and the transmission jumped out of gear. Never did it the whole time I had it. He brought it back. I tore into it. It had broken the shift collar on the bottom shaft. Tore up some other gears in there too. The parts alone cost me $2500. Not counting any labor. Fixed it for 50% warranty and sent the guy on his way. I lost four days of my time in the shop. That does have value. So on that deal I figure I lost money on it.
