I have a IH 340 gas tractor, sat for about a year and did a tune up and the tractor was smoking for the first time ever, did some checking, pulled valve cover and seen the ex-valve-push rod tube was bent, and valve is stuck and not moving, I did a compression check and number 2 cyclinder had no compression what so ever is what lead to me searching around. what would cause this , i pulled the manifold off and i see some rust in the exoport where valve is stuck. My question is , what is involved in pulling the head and who does valve work on these? also I have a IH manual and there is nothing in it about valve adjustment what so ever. I have a IH shop manual and nothing is straight forward in the book and i am very machanically inclined, but this book in my opinion is not very detailed or straight forward. is there anything about doing a valve job on this head i should know, i thought i remembered reading something years ago about someone having a head done and the shop didnt install keepers right ,, or right size keepers, i cant remember. if anyone could shed any light on where I could get the valve adjustments and maybe anything I should know or to look out for when pulling the head I would appreciate it.
