Hi, I hope I can find someone here with the knowledge to help me. My dad is in search of a 999 JD planter, that should be easy enough to find. He was telling me about how He started planting soybeans with it when he was a little boy.
My dad doesnt talk much about his past for some reason, so when he does I listen. This is special to him or he would'nt concider spending money on somthing like his. He is 78 and still farming.
The story began on the drive to an auction, about the 39 9n fordson tractor. How grandpa had bought it new. (well almost new, it had been a demonstrator first). Then at the auction he began talking with every older farmer there about it. Reminessing, about his dad pulling the notch wire tight and so on.
Then when he first used it, Grandpa had him plant a few acers of soybeans. How ever by this time, he had converted it too pull behind the 9n with an adapter that fit the planter.
Here lies my question, Does anyone know about this 3 point adapter, where I might find one, and what I should expect to reasonably pay for one?
We still have he tractor in the shed, Dads looking for a planter. Sold for more then he was willing to spend, However I was shocked to see him bid as high as he did. neither one of us researched what they were selling for first, Had we I think he probably would have brought it home. It was'nt a steal but was a fair price after all.
I just thought How great it would be, if I found the mount to put the package together for him.
