Hey Lou, I just built a computer from a barebones kit from Tigerdirect.com. the kit came with a case, motherboard, intel cpu with fan, 4 gig memoryk, hard drive and dvd burner. the only thing I had to add was windows 7 64bit. my order was around $425 total. I built it on Wed. the 12 so I have had it about a week and a half. it runs great, the only problem was the case had a cheap power supply. power supply went belly up this last wed. I had a spare so it wasn't a problem, and tiger direct is sending me a new power supply. if you can turn screws, plug in cables and load software then you can put one together. it is not hard. the case has standoffs that match the motherboard just be careful when you mount the motherboard and when you install the cpu. you can spend as much on a kit as you want to, this one is not the fastest or greatest but it runs great and will fulfill what I need it for. it has no bloatware. no mcafee or norton, no aol, just what I have installed. I bought windows 7 64 bit oem version($99). the oem version will be linked to the motherboard by microsoft. hope this helps, there are forums that can help also, if you are interested. two good ones are techguy.org and newbies.com. both are good and both are free. I like newbies best and have posted on there, both asking questions and offering help.

if you do be sure to use a grounding strap to ground yourself to the case to prevent static. a lot of integrated circuits are static sensitive.
