Something doesn't jive with your story. Ya, stealing is bad but attempted murder is much worse. I can't think of anyone who would jump in a truck to get away after the back window was just shot out. If that's not enough to stop someone "dead" in their tracks, I don't know what is. If he was able to shoot the truck before they got in it, he should have been able to catch them before they got away. I guess that's why they don't allow hearsay in court. It's like one of those stories that gets told to a dozen people and then the story is completely different from the original story.
