Stupidity reached a whole new level this morning.........

We have several pastures scattered around town with 4 being in one area that is us and some grain with a few stripes with new trees that people don't want horses on. One of them is in a safe corner without the usual access roads that surround the others so that's where we leave the stallion with the last batch of mares to be bred so they can humble him up a little and get him ready to turn in with the guilding to finish out the year. Someone else in town has a couple mares that they ride now and then but have pretty much no knowledge of horses... They bought a piece of orchard joining the "safe" pasture and I asked them right away if they'd rent it to me. They said not right then maybe later. Couple years passed and last week I go and see they fenced their piece off with a shoddy job of old used electric tape and plastic posts. Used my fence as one side of theirs and tied into my tape/posts grounding my fence out. Had a talk with them (him) and helped him fix the fence right. Told him that we'd be moving the stallion 3rd week of June and asked him to hold off til then before putting his mares there (talking about a piece 20ft wide and a 100ft long). He got a little testy and said it was his and he could do what he wanted which is 100% true. Told him the dangers of putting a strange mare (that could be in heat) and does not know an electric fence next to a stallion. He made a smart comment that he was thinking of having his mare bred anyway but he'd think about waiting.

FF to this morning: I come off night shift, check/feed everyone and lay down... 2 hours later, wife runs in and says the stallion is in that guys place. We get up there and the guy and his wife are standing there with this stupid look on their faces and asking why our horse is so aggressive...

Fence was all pushed from his side to ours and his mare was in fullblown heat and squirting all over the place was all over the area with the stallion all foamy/sweaty pigging out on the bellyhigh grass. Put a bridle on him and was leading him to the gate when the mare came after me like a demon. I grabbed a broken fencepost and gave her an adjustment that settled her long enough for the guy to get ahold of her. Started thru the gate and she pulled out of his hands and came again. Got out of the way but twisted my knee in the process. Got out and she tried to come thru the fence. Wife took pics of some of it and the fence. Spent the rest of the morning and some of the afternoon fighting off a colic in the stallion and had the vet come check him out. Guy came to the house just before I left for work and asked what I was gonna do about his fence. Told him I'd take care of it and he'd be hearing from us next week. Went by on my way to work and his two mares was still there (we moved the stallion about a mile away). Untied his fence where it was fastened to mine and came to work. Wife called the police and we take pics and everything to a lawyer and drop off pics at the police station on tuesday and I go to the doctor about my knee. Gonna be pretty be a pretty expensive lesson for an idiot.....

Done now......
