Today I drove my 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Clarksville TN to Evansville IN to the tractor show. I pulled a 6 x 12 trailer with a golf cart and an anitque engine on it. I got 15.3 MPG going. On the way home my 15.3 dropped all the way to 11.8 MPG. Big drop and I don't understand why. 2 things did happen on the way home whenever I hit a hill the AC blower would switch from the dash to the defrost until I got over the hill. Next when I got home I smelled the smell of brakes. That smell turned out to be the AC clutch. Is there a vacuum leak that was affecting the problem with the blower output switching? I could hear the door close when it would switch back to blow out the dash. Thanks for your replies. The show at Evansville is a great show and I have attended for the past several years. Just was not able to stay a long time today because I am working a 6PM ot 6AM Friday night shift.
