I cannot answer this with any authority but I spent a couple of hours reviewing the IH Paint Committee Decisions relative to paint changes from the Farmall 200 to the 240. I didn't see anything specific to the 230 but I scanned through them fairly quickly by titles. I did find as Jim Becker noted that Decision I37 dated 9/6/56 changed the white from Implement Cream No. 292-A to Harvester White 233. It also noted the Farmall 200 white front grille would be changed to 233 also. This change in color was to take place as soon as possible. The next change I found was when the Farmall 240 and other tractors or that era were being implemented that the side panels and grille white would be Harvester White 901 by Decision 278 dated 4/18/58. Somewhere between Sept. 1956 and April 1958 the color was changed from 233 to Harvester White 901 but I never found when and by what authority. When I restored my 1958 Farmall 240 and a 1958 No. 11 Side Delivery Rake I used Harvester White 901 which crosses to PPG 8665 since that was the color established by the Paint Committee for both items. The No. 11 hay rake colors were established by Decision No. 125 dated March 13, 1957 so Harvester White was an established and previously approved white by that date. Harvester White 901 to my eyes appears to be a white with the slightest of green tint and is certainly different then the creamer whites seen on the later tractors starting sometime in the 1960's. I've seen that creamer white used on numerous tractors that according to the Paint and Identification Committee should have been the whiter white like 901. I believe the current white available from the CaseIH dealerships which is 935 white is certainly a cream color and not even close to Harvester White 901. I can't remember the shade of 233 white relative to 901 from my youth as it's been far to long ago and most likely I had my eyes on something else. Hope this helps but it is your tractor and what suits you is most likely the correct color for you. I have no color cross information to the 233 which it might have been but do know what 901 is like. Since the Farmall 230 was produced during 1956, 1957 and 1958 it could have been different colors as all three of the noted whites or the early cream were in play during it's production, Hal.
