DM- Last summer Ultra Light Flying newspaper had a very interesting article about dual plugs, spark plug position in the chamber, and engine performance. Right you are about the RPM drop on single mag and increase on both mags. The article pointed out that dual ignition systems was done as a safety measure, so that the engine would keep running if one system crapped out over the wrong place... It also told about how snowmobile engines, a common powerplant used in ultra lights put out better power in their original single plug design, because lots of research went into where & how to place the plug firing tip in the combustion chamber for optimum operation. From there it was stated that ignition system redundancy traded off overall performance. Hank
