IHank: I should've added that almost all aircraft piston engines use duel mags to fire duel plugs. Both systems are independent of each other except one mag is timed just a tad after the first.. Full power is obtained only with BOTH mags firing. That seems to say that a second spark plays an important role in firing the mixture. Most think that once the fire is started another spark is of no value. True the plugs are built a bit different but an electrical spark is a spark. That is why I favored systems with duel spark as my highest consern when I played with this stuff years ago. harvey
