My '38 F-14 has thermosyphon cooling (no pump) and no thermostat. Even in the dead of summer, WITH THE RADIATOR SHUTTERS CLOSED! it will not move the thermostat off the peg. The only time I've ever managed it is when I was pulling a 2-14 plow with it. That was all she wanted to pull and then some, and even then I could keep the temp under 170 just by cracking the shutters a tad. Toodling around with a trailer on a warm, humid day, I've seen a little vapor out of the radiator cap, but by the time it percolated through the radiator and went by the gauge pickup on the bottom hose, it wasn't enough to move the gauge. These old tractors were overbuilt to a fault, which is why they're still functional after 50-60 years. You gotta WORK those puppies to get them warmed up.
