Had my son pull the dash panel off of my 450 today to install a new water temp guage. While it was off I had him bump the starter over so I could get at the lock bolt on the fan pulley, and when he did there must have been a wire or terminal on the ignition switch that was resting on sheetmetal, because it smoked the wire from the ammeter to the ignition switch. No power to the switch now.
Test light shows power on the batt side of ammeter, none on the other side. Jumper wire across the ammeter terminals lets it start and run normal.
Did it just fry the ammeter and I need a new one(along with a new wire to the switch), or is there anything else that may have been messed up?
