I fired up my 756 after sleeping for the winter and I noticed a ticking noise coming from the right side of the engine, sounds like its coming from just below the head. I'm thinking it could be a lifter making this noise? I let it run for about an hour just above idle, the noise is still there, but that engine sure sounds nice. It doesn't seem like this lifter issue is effecting the engine much or at all. Should I be concerned about this? Do you think it is a lifter? Could it be anything else? It looks like I can take the side cover off of the engine to take a closer look, even taking the valve cover off doesn't look to hard. I guess I'm just wondering what you think this noise could be and what you would do about it if it were yours.
I'm totally comfortable with opening up the engine if thats what needs to be done. I'm hoping to do a little moldboard plowing with it in a few weeks.
