I had a 49 Super A with the square shaft which I converted to the tapered keyed shaft. Bought the parts from the local IH dealer. Older than dirt parts man said IH used to make a kit to convert but it was NLA. But the individual parts were. Do you have the steering arm to fit the tapered shaft, the one that sticks out the front that the tierods hook to? There were at least 2 different kinds of tierods. All these parts have to match up. I don't have any photographs, but you can find pictures in the parts manuals on line. If you search the archives, you will find lots of info on parts needed and how to do it. The sector gears are interchangeable but check for worn keyways.
