You do not have to split a 9 to get the clutch out. If you have to top cover off you may get it out but it is easier with the fuel tank off. You have to hold your mouth just right but the clutch will come out the top. If you got the mouse stuff out you must be able to see in there. Is the linkage binding or is everything moving except the facing is stuck to the pressure plate? I don't know if I would be spraying lubricant all over in there. You will want that facing to grip someday.
