806 is darn near bullet proof . A good and again i said good 806 will start good in cold weather , BUT if they are getting a little low on compression or someone did not do the correct job on a valve job they will not start good cold . The D361 and D407 engine IS NOT and engine for the novice . THEY DO NOT have a scycro transmission so don't expect to shift it like a car or pick up . I have now and had many 806. the one i have now is getting on 10000 hrs and never had the head or pan off of it and this year it had to do what the 1066 does due to the rear end going out on the 1066 so the 806 had to pull the 5 bottom 16 plow and disc all the corn ground with the 18 foot 470 disc Ok so we had to drop to forth low to to pull the plow and disc she still hauled the mail well for being 1964 806 . And i can tell you this she ate some fuel at around 75-80 gallon a day .
