Though I live in the deep south starting has not been a problem in the coldest of temperatures. You will need a good strong "Diesel" battery. I do not recall having to use the glow plugs ever to start but again temperatures were seldom below freezing. We just did not do tractor work in cold weather if we could avoid it.
