The motor only has the crankshaft in it now, and I was wondering if the crankshaft roller bearings need replacing or not. When rolled over, the bearings do make some noise(a hum or a light growl) , but I don't beleive it is a bad noise and the balls in the bearings aren't pitted or cracked. Should I replace them with a good used set or leave them in and start the rebuild?
My other question is about the reuse of the rod cap bearings. I understand that these can have wear, but when I re-install them I need to remove or add shims according to the plastigauge measurement. Am I right? Any help would be appreciated. I'm restoring this F-20 for my 4-H club.
