There should be a pointer and mark (notch) on the pulley on the front of the engine. Line those up and note where the rotor is pointing and then take the mag off. When you put it back, make sure the rotor on the mag is pointing the same direction as when you took it off and you should be good to go. If your crank thing is stuck, you can turn the engine by using the belt pulley flange. Put the transmission in neutral and the pulley in gear. Put a couple of bolts in the flange and use a bar to turn the pulley flange and thus the engine. Just be sure there is no possibility the engine can start when you do this!! If you take the plugs out and put the start lever in gas position, it will be easy to turn the engine with this method.
