Back in the day when they were NEW you could get what you wanted and you got what ever the dealer ordered for a STOCK tractor. The man i worked for bought the first 806 showen in the state of Ohio at the Canfield Fair Sept 1963 . The I H dealer had to make the drive out to the plant to pick up the first two of the 06 sires and haul them back as they were no to be shipped till after the fair. I was at the fair grounds when they came in on the trucks and was the one that told the boss about this HUGE new I H tractor and he actually bought it BEFORE the fair started and he also bought a 5x16 700 plow to go with it . Then a week later my Uncle bought the second one sold at another dealer wright off the truck and was checked out and on his farm same day . G F;s tractor had 16.9x38's on the rear off the truck and 7.50x16's on the ft. My uncles had 18.4x38's and 7.50x16;s and they both had flat top fenders. My uncle was concerned about the 18.4x38's not fitting into the plow furrow as he kept sayen that they were way to wide, and he also bought the 700 5x16 plow for it . On my uncles farm it was the first tractor that had the power and weight to handle the potato harvester by it's self with the best selection of gear choices . No more pull tractors and no more broken chains .
