Front tire size 1964 806

Hi guys and gals, I asked this question over on Red Power but didn"t get a solid response. Does anyone have an original sales brochure for early 1964 that lists the tire sizes for the 806. I just got one that is from the clam shell fender era and I can find where the standard rear tire is 15.5-38 but I need the front tire size along with the rim width.

All three of the early 706's I have got 600x16 fronts. The rim would be either 4.25 or 4.5 wide. Two have 16.9x34 and one has 15.5x38. All are 64 with clam shells. I don't have the brochure or manual handy right now.

15.5x38? I thought the standard tire on the early 806 was the 18.4x34.

I would imagine the 806 would have 7.50x16 fronts.

Back in the day when they were NEW you could get what you wanted and you got what ever the dealer ordered for a STOCK tractor. The man i worked for bought the first 806 showen in the state of Ohio at the Canfield Fair Sept 1963 . The I H dealer had to make the drive out to the plant to pick up the first two of the 06 sires and haul them back as they were no to be shipped till after the fair. I was at the fair grounds when they came in on the trucks and was the one that told the boss about this HUGE new I H tractor and he actually bought it BEFORE the fair started and he also bought a 5x16 700 plow to go with it . Then a week later my Uncle bought the second one sold at another dealer wright off the truck and was checked out and on his farm same day . G F;s tractor had 16.9x38's on the rear off the truck and 7.50x16's on the ft. My uncles had 18.4x38's and 7.50x16;s and they both had flat top fenders. My uncle was concerned about the 18.4x38's not fitting into the plow furrow as he kept sayen that they were way to wide, and he also bought the 700 5x16 plow for it . On my uncles farm it was the first tractor that had the power and weight to handle the potato harvester by it's self with the best selection of gear choices . No more pull tractors and no more broken chains .

My '64 806 Diesel (Mine's a clamshell fender, too) has always had 7.50-16's on the front, 6"? rim, and 18.4-34's on the rear, 16" rim. The owner's manual, which is not in front of me, it's at home, I'm at work, has the optional tire sizes right in it. -Andy

the book lists 15.5-38 and 18.4-34 for the rear. i guess you'd say "standard options."

front is 7.5-16 on all of ours, 8s and 7

750 x 16 was the most common size for the 806 at that time. I don't think 15" fronts were an option but I coulde be wrong. Several options were available, both front and rear. In our area 750 x 16 front and 18.4 x 34 rear were most common.

The Nov/64 price lists that I have for International 806's list only one front tire with any rear tire configeration and that is a 7.50 x 20.

I had a '64 that came with 7.50-20's. I switched to 11-16's.

ND856,

You had a Internationaql 806 rather than a Farmall. 750 x 20 were the standard size on the International but were not an option on the Farmall.

Well, according to the Nebraska Test book I have, 806's with narrow fronts tested at Nebraska in 1963 had 18.4-34's on the rear and 7.50-15's on the front...as did the competitive John Deere 4020's. Most of the later Farmall 806's I ever saw around here had 18.4-38's on the rear and wide fronts with 10 or 11.00-16's, so I imagine a lot of sizes were used on various tractor wheel configurations.
