I haven't touched those parts in a while. I had thought there were flat washers, but the parts catalog doesn't list any, so evidently not. The catalog lists lock washers for the 2 long studs at each end. The short middle stud is a special case. Do NOT put a lock washer on it. More importantly, make sure you are using the correct stud. The stud is hollow in the lower end and there is a hole in the side that meets the hole from the hollow end. This hollow stud is the oil feed to the rocker arms. Do NOT substitute a plain stud or a bolt for the hollow stud. Also, go easy tightening the middle nut. The hollow stud is weaker than a solid one and easy to twist off.
