Not only does it have the shuttle valve that is used to limit the height or the depth of whatever is mounted on the fast hitch, but it also has the extend and retract ports in the block on the rod end. The extend oil is fed thru the fluid line that runs down the outide of the cylinder. This keeps the cylinder a small and compact unit. If you use a store bought cylinder, you are going to have to run a hose down the outside of the cylinder for the base mounted extend port. As others have said, you are going to have problems mounting back in the tractor because a store bought is not going to have the same clevises on the ends. Unless your cylinder is complete junk, I would rebuild it. The seals are just o-rings that any bearing house will have. Sometimes you can get lucky and find an auto parts store that will have them. Take the cylinder apart and take the seals in and have them matched up. The hardest part is getting the wiper out of the top end. It is just an lip type oil seal that is put in backwards. The local NAPA store had the one I used. JMO.
