If the problem is that the worm gear is worn into the housing and is thus allowed to move back and forth you can remove this play by putting a washer under the pipe plug on the front end of the worm gear bearing. My H went from about 1/3 turn of play in the steering to virtually none. My first washer was too tight and made the steering stiff so I put in a thinner one. Zach
