The washer/seal is pn. 13727D. In 2001, suggested retail was $2. Dealer cost for that item was half of that, or $1. You're correct on the dollar profit, but likely a decade off of when the dealer was making it. Today, a dealer has it listed for $5.64. I'm not aware of the current markup on that item, but I'd guess it's about the same it was a decade ago. That would mean the dealer probably paid between $2.50 and $3.00 for that washer depending on their chosen markup.
In 2001, the gasket, pn. 13728D retailed for $2.64. Dealer paid 55% of that amount. Today, a dealer has it listed for $6.35. Again, do the math.
I agree that many parts suffer from "too many middlemen" syndrome. I don't know if these can be included in that category or not. I do know today I can buy a NAPA gasket at retail for this application for around fifty cents and they are just as good as any CIH one I've ever used. Maybe CIH could source them from NAPA or WIX for their "Gold Value" line of parts?
