I could use some help with my 47 Farmall M. It has always been notoriously hard to start. I had it switched to twelve volt this summer, after which it ran well, charged, and started easily. I was hoping to use it to plow snow this winter, since it is the only tractor that I have a plow for. The day of our first snow-- it wouldn't start. The starter switch was blown-- replaced that. It now turns over, starts for a second, and dies. Seems like fuel to me-- A friend suggested that I could have ice in the carb. I tried pouring hot water over the carb. No change. Could the float be stuck? It also has an in-line fuel filter. It hasn't been very cold yet-- above freezing today-- but I'm looking at a lot of shoveling if I can't puzzle this out sometime between chores--
