Well, between the weather and being really busy at work, I haven't been able to spend much time on the regular. However a couple of good things have progressed.
I did get the steel temporarily replaced with rubber, so I can pull start the old girl. Which I attempted last week. Got her to phart multiple times and have excellent oil pressure.
I had so much gas coming out of the exhaust (I have the potato muffler for it, but not installed at the moment), she was belching raw gas out the exhaust and carb. I was afraid that if she did fire up, I might end up with a fire on my hands, so I quit with the starting attempt. Problem I had was that the float just wasn't working right. So, I ordered a new cork float and a needle and seat. Will get those in today, and try again sometime this weekend.
Weather report today and tomorrow are sunny and in the high 50's, so going to really focus on getting her running. She actually doesn't look too bad with the F&H front and rear spokes and rubber, but I am going to put the steel back on when I am done with fixing her up.
The rear steels are the Texas Sand type, and have the optional cleat rings on. Someone tack welded the rings on, and I intend to work over the winter to free them up and remove the tack welds. Original config on those were to be bolted on. The bolts are still there with the mounting blocks, so I should be good to go. DANG, those rears are REALLY heavy with the cleat rings........
