If it stays running at a fast when the lever is moved to idle (forward) the following questions will help us diagnose the issue. When you are operating it when first started, does the governor work to keep the engine speed steady, or is unresponsive, requiring easing into things so it doesn't die? Does the throttle position above the fast idle seem to work OK, In other words does it go to full throttle as it should? Has the carb been worked on, give us the history of this problem, or your history with the tractor. The start stop switch will not affect the position of the idle system, there is no electrical connection to the carburetor, Jim
