I found two bolts lying on the bottom of the transmission housing frame when I drained the oil. I believe they are from the differential gear casing. I thought I would be able to access the internals by removing the belt pully and power takeoff attachments. I got the belt pulley housing off and was able to remove the power takeoff drive rod and the shifter tube. But, I cannot get the power takeoff housing to come completely off the trans. housing. Something is holding it in place. I don't want to force it (since I don't know what I'm doing!). The question is: how is the power takeoff housing removed? The next question is: After I get it off will I have sufficient access to the trans. internals, or do I have to remove the top cover of the trans.?
