A friend was having a low voltage problem his Bosch Solid State. I took it to the generator shop, but with no 12 Volt generator to test it, I used my Farmall H 6 Volt generator for the test. My friend’s regulator was bad, but the new one worked great on the test stand and put out 16 Amps at 14.3 Volts. When I was wiring my H, I remembered the Bosch regulator test and liked the idea of simply changing the battery, spark coil and regulator to have a 12 Volt system.
The gauge was a tach, but I changed to a Voltmeter.
The Bosch Solid State regulators sell for $29 and should last a long time with no contacts to ware out.
